Another former Brave signed with a new team as MLB Trade Rumors reported earlier today that righty Chris Martin will pitch for the Cubs on a one-year deal, earning $2.5 million guaranteed this coming season, along with $500K in performance bonuses and a $250K roster bonus.
Getting another former bullpen arm from the Braves, Chicago also signed Jesse Chavez a few days ago, giving the righty a minor league deal.
Martin and Chavez were critical to the Braves bullpen last season, with the former pitching to a 3.95 ERA in 46 appearances in 2021 and the latter a 2.14 ERA in 30 appearances. The Cubs are in desperate need for relievers after losing several bullpen arms during 2021’s trade deadline.
